Pencils

I've been neglecting the blog due to the fact that I've been getting 'Welcome to the Gun Zoo' ready for next month's Comic-Con in SD. So, as a means of easing back into this, here are some pencil sketches I've been producing lately. I've been reading a bunch of different stuff lately (Secret Warriors, Cooke/Sale's Kryptonite) as you can see by the Daisy in the first frame and the traditional Supes/Lois in the 2nd. The third frame is another sketch of the Gun Zoo girls all grown up - Patch and Billie Joe. Apparently I'm also into really big fists in the air.

Hulk, 80s Storm - Bille Joe

So I got a new brush pen yesterday - a Japanese Pentel - that actually has bristles! Very cool - indeed. So I've been busy using it and the results are above. BTW - Morlock Storm from the 80s is by far her best iteration - there really isn't any debate.

Happy Saturday - Cheers -

Patch Process

Happy Friday! This post is an illustration (pun intended) of process - from pencils to inks. There's a construction phase before the pencils - but that gets covered up by the pencils themselves. Ink is done with a #4 Sable brush and a Micron 5 pen for finer areas.

Cyclops

Let's be honest - I'm not a colorist - I don't claim to be one. And the above is poor by Archie comics' standards to be sure. But it was fun to add a little color to the image - for a change of pace. Have a good rest of the long weekend!

Wolverine

I know these aren't red pencil - but the stuff I've been doing at home as been far more interesting. Here we have some more Samnee style-jocking - a portrait of Wolverine on his nightly berry picking sojourn.
